Valentines Day & ipsy

Here is my first blog post that should be named “Shut up and take my money”.

As monthly subscription boxes grow in popularity, ipsy is a great choice for us beauty product lovers. With ipsy, you get five beauty items in a bag delivered to your doorstep once a month for just $10… you can cancel anytime.  The great thing about ipsy is they cater to your needs and find products that are right for you.  The creator is (youtube tutorial makeup legend) Michelle Phan, and her goal is to find great products that are personalized!

First, you fill out a brief quiz where they ask about your skin tone, hair color, eye color, and style.  They want to know how adventurous you are with makeup, what brands you like, etc.

I have received one before and LOVED everything I got. It’s not just a couple of tiny samples, but full size products and sometimes deluxe samples. This is my second “glam bag” and it came just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Here is what came:

Seriously, how cute is this? It’s like a pixelated e-mail bag. Perfect size to stick in your purse!

The first item I pulled out was a bottle of nail polish by Trust fund, in “I’m Kind of a Big Deal” which color is a gorgeous dusty rose retailing for $15.  If you are are looking for a vegan, cruelty free, non toxic nail polish, this is for you!  Unfortunately, I normally don’t use regular polish since I am a crazy perfectionist I would be touching them up constantly, so this was re-gifted to my Mom.  However, I do plan on borrowing it someday.

My second item was a Baby Blush Stick in Bora Bora Coral by tre’StiQue.

It is more pink in person than it appears in photos, goes perfect with my coral lipstick, glides on smooth and easy. I couldn’t find the baby version online, I am thinking it is an ipsy exclusive. Here I found the large version, retails for $34.

I am already a lover of lipgloss, but seriously, this stuff is the bomb. It is Vintage by Jessica Liebeskind in Pink Sequin Sparkling Lip Gloss.

The color is very sheer, almost a nude with gold sparkles. I tried it by itself, which is pretty, but I like a little more color on my lips, so then I just applied it over my MAC lipstick and loved it even more! This was also a mini, the regular size is found here, retails for $21.

The fourth item in my bag is a sample of Photo Finish Primer Oli, by Smashbox… This frightened me a little. Putting oil on my face is sort of a scary thing for me, I try and never touch my face to keep it from getting oily. So, I went to the Smashbox website to find how to apply the product and found a video that explained how you can add it into your everyday foundation for a more natural look that blends perfectly into your skin. Well, that’s just what it did! I put it on this morning and it’s 4 pm right now and my skin feels fine, not extra oily or anything.  I’ll be excited to see how my skin does in the next week using this product.

My last product, oh my goodness. This. Smells. Amazing!  Carrot + Rose hydrating  cream by Seraphine Botanicals is silky smooth, without leaving a greasy feeling.  This brand is also vegan, organic, and cruelty free. I checked to see if they had a body spray that was also this scent, but I couldn’t find it.   If they did, I would own it!  This is their full sized bottle that retails at $19.

Well, that about wraps it up. I loved everything in my glam bag this month, can’t wait to get another! If you are interested in trying out ipsy, click here.   At this time I could not find any coupon codes or deals, just a referral link.

Hope you all had a wonderful Valentines Day like I did!
